SOFTEN project at Isyde2024

We attended the Italian Digital Education Symposium on “Lifelong Digital Learning and Education” to present the results of our research on the integration of soft skills in STEM curricula. In particular, on a “short list” of green soft skills that emerged from interviews with STEM teachers and green industries, including teamwork, adaptability, communication, collaboration, metacognition, open-mindedness, empathy, critical thinking and problem solving, complementary to environmental and social awareness. The development of such skills is of paramount importance for students, not only during their time at university, but especially when they enter the world of work. To support university teachers in working with their students to improve green soft skills, a MOOC entitled “Green Soft Skills for transitioning towards a Sustainable Future” will be created, describing learning techniques and methodologies that teachers can use in their courses.
